Weekend Getaway to the Central Coast

By Ola Endress

My first spring post is from a trip I went on last week to the Central Coast.
This trip is perfect if you don’t want to venture too far from Sydney but still want a holiday feel.

I only went away for two days and here is what I found ….

Somersby falls – Gosford – Central Coast – 1.5 hr drive from Sydney
$7 to park for the whole day (you need to get a parking ticket)

Tip: have a picnic, bring your swimmers and go have fun in the water!

Down the road is ….

The Australian Reptile Park – Somersby – Gosford
$45 for an Adult – $40 concession – worth it!

This is hands on and this is fun!
If you have ever wanted to hold a snake, hug a koala, pat a kangaroo then this is the place to go! It doesn’t even feel like a zoo, they let the animals roam around the park which I think all zoo’s should do.

Hire a bike in Terrigal – outside The Crowne Plaza
$12 for an hour/you can hire for 4+ hours

This is the perfect place to hire a bike and go explore the beautiful things that terrigal has to offer.

You can follow the beach path and bike ride along the coast and even go to the next beach in Avoca.

Unfortunately I let James pick the route and he decided to go up steep hills which was no fun at all.
We got into lots of fights, I wanted a nice easy enjoyable bike ride, he wanted to train for the Tour De France and that is why I honestly don’t have many photos of this experience (thanks James).

Tip: don’t let your cardio fitness freak of a partner take charge and you will be fine =)

Tree Top Adventure Park – Ourimbah State Forest
$45 – worth it!

I thought this would just be for kids but I was wrong, this is by far up there to get your adrenalins pumping

There are 4 levels, red, green, blue and black.

I wish I had stopped at the green level, I couldn’t breathe propery after the blue level and there was no way in hell I was going to do the black level.

This is a fun experience but if you are afraid of heights I suggest stopping at the green level.

You can’t get down the trees even if you wanted to, the only way to get out of it is to do the obstacles.

They say you are not allowed to bring any phones or cameras but for blog purposes I hid it so I could take these photos…

If you want the adrenalin and have the balls go for the next two levels.

Where to have drinks – Rhonda’s Terrigal

Good vibes and good place to have some cocktails! it looks like they do some pretty impressive mexican style food too.

Where to have dinner – Santorini in Terrigal – Greek Restaurant
Kitchen closes at 7:30pm so make sure you get in before then.

Santorini inGreece is my favourite place in the world, and this place made me feel like I was in it.

I recommend getting the Mezze seafood grill – big enough for 2 people.

Where to have a nice breakfast – Bella’s Cafe in Terrigal

Where to stay:
We stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Terrigal – 5 star hotel $140 for 2 nights

The hotel has everything, gym, spa, pool , spacious rooms and amazing sea views. It is in the heart of everything so this is the perfect place to stay.

The next adventure getaway is coming up soon… until then, I hope you are making your life count =)
